Registration for the 28th International Conference on Telecommunications was managed entirely for the virtual format held on 1-3 June 2021, originally planned for London, United Kingdom. Because the meeting was delivered online, attendees joined the programme remotely and received access details once their registration was processed. The same approach applied to the keynote talks, special sessions, workshops and tutorials that made up the conference schedule, allowing participants from many different countries to take part without travelling.
The registration process was designed to reflect the shift to a fully virtual event, with instructions and joining information issued to registrants ahead of the opening session. Attendees could follow the technical programme on communication and information technologies, including network architectures, wireless and mobile systems, signal processing, coding techniques, and software-defined networking. Sessions were scheduled across the three days so that participants could build a programme suited to their own interests and time zone.
Detailed guidance on the registration procedure, the virtual format and access arrangements was published alongside the conference programme, together with announcements and news updates as plans evolved. The organising and programme committees continued to welcome contributors and authors throughout the submission and review process, with the aim of providing a well-curated set of papers and presentations. The overall intention remained one of promoting open discussion and the exchange of ideas on emerging directions in telecommunications research and development.
